Flat Fold Roman Shades
You can find three types of Roman Shade in the Design Studio. Flat fold is the most traditional style—made of a single piece of fabric that lies flat when lowered and creates folds when raised, it has no horizontal seams across the front. This shade is best with fabrics that have large, bold patterns or stripes.
Batten Front Roman Shades
The second type is the batten front Roman Shade, which adds a contemporary twist to the flat fold. This shade has horizontal pleats (or battens, also known as tunnels) that have a dowel sewn in to add dimension and visual interest. This shade is best with solid or textured fabrics.
Batten Back Roman Shades
Another variation on the flat Roman Shade, this version has battens in the back, creating a tailored look when lowered and offering traditionally defined folds when raised. If you have contemporary or transitional décor, this shade will fit well in your space. It’s best with solid fabrics or fabrics with subtle patterns or textures.
