Some Hunter Douglas Window Fashions Qualify for Tax Credit
Everyone likes to save a little cash now and again, so at Altra Home Décor here in the Peoria and Phoenix areas, we like to point our customers to any areas where that might just happen. And everyone is in luck, because until December 31, certain Hunter Douglas Duette Architella products are eligible for tax credit. The Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act of 2015, which gave federal tax credits on select energy-efficient products, have been reinstated for 2016, and it means savings for our customers.
Two Ways to Save Money
Because almost half of a home’s energy costs can fly out of an untreated window, simply getting window coverings for your home will help save money on your energy bills. And now, for the rest of 2016, you have an opportunity to buy the most energy-efficient product on the market—which will save you that much more in energy costs—and receive a tax credit of 10% of the purchase price come April. It’s a win-win!
Duette® Architella® Honeycomb Shades
The most energy-efficient window covering on the market today is the Hunter Douglas Duette Architella honeycomb shade. This unique shade has a cell-within-a-cell construction. This design works in two ways to save you money on your energy bill. First, it acts as an insulation barrier to help maintain a consistent temperature inside so warm air doesn’t escape in the winter. Second, it reduces solar heat gain from the sun in the summer, allowing you to keep your environment cool and comfortable.
Getting a Tax Credit
Eligible products include the Alustra® Collection of Duette® Architella® honeycomb shades of certain sizes with qualifying fabrics and lifting systems that are inside-mounted over a double-glazed window and the Duette® Architella® honeycomb shades of certain sizes with qualifying fabrics and lifting systems that are inside-mounted over a double-glazed window. Be sure to have them installed by December 31 to be eligible for the tax credit (10% of the purchase price of the product only, excluding sales tax and measuring and installation charges, up to $500 in total during the 2016 tax year). This credit is for existing homes only and not intended for new construction and is subject to a lifetime limitation of $500.
