“Layering at the Window”
Completely an art, design can be less intimidating with a little help. The guide from Hunter Douglas offers a clear, step-by-step process:
- Select Your Base Layer. This is the product that will go directly against the window and is what you’ll use for light control and energy efficiency. You might want a blind, shade, or shutter. Options include Designer Banded Shades, Duette® Honeycomb Shades, Provenance® Woven Wood Shades, and more, and you can choose solid or textured, neutral or colored materials.
- Select Your Second Layer. This is where you will add dimension to your window, selecting fabrics that add drama, depth, and style. Fabrics can come from the core Design Studio line or from the featured artist collection (right now highlighting selections from textile designer Rebecca Atwood)—you’ll want to find something that will coordinate or complement what you already chose for the base layer.
- Select Side Panels or Drapery. Side panels frame the window to add dimension and beauty. Drapery can fully cover the window to provide additional privacy and light control.
